The Summer Slump

Meet Lauren.

Lauren’s been suffering with something you yourself have probably struggled with before.

You might not have realised, but I guarantee it’s affected you at some point.

We call it the “summer slump”

And Lauren was struck down with a nasty case last week.

Lauren’s been training with us for just over 3 months, and absolutely flying.

Lauren turned up to every session with a big bright smile on her face, and an even brighter pair of leggings.

Lauren put the work in both in her sessions and at home with her nutrition.

And she reaped the rewards.

She lost weight, she lost inches and felt great.

But then life threw her a couple of curve balls.

One missed session became two, two became three…

…and before she knew it we hadn’t seen her for a couple of weeks.

She lost all her motivation and drive, and her nutrition started to drift as a result.

The summer slump had struck!

Now lucky for Lauren, her mentor Perry was on the phone to her to find out what was wrong and steer her back on track.

After a few words of encouragement we got her back to the studio, and by the end of that session she felt like a different person.

The spark was back.

As were the leggings.

And even better, Lauren was brave enough to post about it in our Facebook community group about it, so that anyone else struggling might be convinced to reach out and ask for our help and support.


My point here is that it’s normal for you to feel demotivated at times.

No-one, and I mean NO-ONE jumps out of bed every single morning and looks forward to every single workout.

We all have off days.

Even me.

Even smiley Lauren ????

The trick is to realise when you get a couple of those in a row, and that negative voice inside your head starts to make the decisions.

Tell that voice to pipe down.

And the best way to get that to happen, is just to start.

Don’t give the voice any oxygen, don’t think about it, don’t dwell on it.

Just start.

And once you start, all those doubts and insecurities will fade into the background again.

Now I know this sounds like I’m oversimplifying, but those barriers you’re throwing up are 99% of the time in your head.
