Stop setting goals and cheer the hell up

In the past I’ve written about the importance of setting goals, of having a clear picture of what you want to achieve.

If you don’t know where you’re headed then how do you know which route to take?

BUT

And it’s a big but (add your own joke here if you like you childish scamp).

Let’s say you apply yourself, stick to your guns and manage to reach your goals.

You’re back into that dress ready for your friend’s wedding.

You manage to avoid the booze for 28 days straight.

You lose that stubborn spare tyre and feel awesome on your summer holiday.

Nice work…but what comes next? Another goal, that’s what.

It’s human nature, we always want to push for more, to achieve something. Whether the pressure is external, from society, or from within. It’s always there.

Its an endless cycle.

And if you get too caught up in that cycle, you’re caught in a constant sense of delayed happiness.

Every so often it’s important to flip things around, and look at how far you’ve come.

Look at where you were a week ago, a month ago, a year ago, and congratulate yourself.

Celebrate your progress.

Be happy. Then use that happiness to push you on.

Have a great rest of the week!
