This weekend, there will be a giant ball of fire visible in the sky.
And sure as eggs is eggs, when the sun is out, we BBQ.
Imagine the scenario: you’re invited to a friend’s house for dinner. You roll up with customary bottle of wine or flowers, enjoy pleasantries, sit down and are served a plate holding…
A sausage, 2 burgers, a burnt steak, 2 chinese spare ribs with a small mountain of kettle chips on the side. Oh and an untouched salad that just sits in the middle of the table.
Sounds a little odd doesn’t it, but shift that same scenario into the garden and BAM, now you’re cooking on gas (or charcoal for the purists).
So if you’re hosting or heading to a BBQ this weekend, here is a quick and simple recipe to ensure you limit the damage with some lovely guacamole, packed full of healthy fats, vitamins and minerals to aid the breakdown and absorption of all that meat.
It takes all of 5 minutes to knock this up, and tastes so much better than the store-bought option. So call in to your local supermarket on your way home and grab what you need. Oh and grab some factor 30, you don’t want to burn!
- 2 avocados
- Juice of 1 lime
- Sprinkle of paprika
- Sprinkle of good quality salt (himalayan or celtic sea salt are best)
- Small red chilli finely chopped (add more/less according to how hot you like it)
- Scoop the flesh out of the avocado and lightly mash up in a bowl with a fork
- Add everything else to the bowl and mix with the same fork (less washing up)
- Done. There, that was easy wasn’t it?
Alternatively if you like your guac super-smooth then you can throw it all in a blender or processor
So there you have it. An easy addition to your weekend festivities. Now get out there and have a great time.
