I haven’t. Some pregnant ladies get the urge to lick coal apparently, I’ll have to keep an eye on the Mrs at the petrol station! I digress – let me explain where I’m going with this…
Tuesday afternoon is Daddy day in my world. It’s my little oasis of awesome in the middle of the working week when I switch off the emails and look after my son for a few uninterrupted hours.
Yesterday the little guy was uncharacteristically chilled, so we spent most our time reading books and playing trains (take a look at the epic Brio track at the bottom). He’s massively into his trains, so Thomas the Tank Engine is a firm favourite. We read one called Coal, about an engine called Henry who overheats all the time and can’t run his line for long enough to get the job done.
Old Henners is getting increasingly frustrated with his poor performance, when his driver drops the bombshell that he simply needs a better quality of coal (Welsh, if you’re interested) to up his game. The thrifty Fat Controller isn’t sure about this as the coal is a bit pricier than the usual stuff, but he takes the plunge and lo and behold, as soon as Henry gets that stuff in him he feels fantastic, and starts steaming around Sodor like the “very useful engine” he is.
Fairly obvious how this relates to you and I isn’t it?!
Doesn’t matter how hard you work, if you’re not putting the right fuel in your body then you’re not going to get where you want to be. Yes it is a little more expensive to buy good quality whole foods and eat healthily, but the more you do it the more economical you can become (more on that another time). When you fuel yourself right you’re going to feel far far better and not get hungry every couple of hours, meaning you eat less. Plus you’ll be able to really push yourself in every workout, meaning you get where you want to be, faster.
So take a leaf out of Henry’s book and treat yourself right, starting today.
